09. Laundry room: Clean and tidy
Once clothes are put away, clear remaining loose items and trash, wipe table and surfaces, organize supplies simply, and sweep/mop as flooring allows.
A saved place for Mommy Do and Daddy Do.
ASAP first, then overdue tasks, then upcoming due dates. Undated tasks follow by importance.
Once clothes are put away, clear remaining loose items and trash, wipe table and surfaces, organize supplies simply, and sweep/mop as flooring allows.
Dust accessible surfaces and bookshelf exteriors; room is otherwise fairly tidy. Do not start reorganizing all books during this cleanup.
Trash bags, a recycling box, a belongs-elsewhere bin, cleaning cloths, and broom.
Find buried potatoes, check nearby food, and take rotten food straight to the outside trash.
Gather tools, decorations, and project supplies in the belongs-elsewhere bin; do not start reorganizing downstairs. This is a good stopping point if energy runs out.
Check condition and dates, gather duplicates, and separate opened packages from unopened backups. Do not empty all shelves at once.
Wipe sticky spots and crumbs from each cleared shelf; let it dry before restocking.
Reachable kid snacks; opened snacks in an eat-first bin; canned goods together with oldest usable items in front; dinner ingredients, sauces, and oils together; baking ingredients together and decorating supplies in their own bin. Heavy items low, lightweight rarely used items high.
Close snack bags and put sugar, flour, and similar staples into clean food-safe lidded containers. Reuse existing supplies.
Give potatoes a cool, dark, dry, ventilated spot in a shallow basket or crate, not buried or sealed in a tote. Keep onions separately in a ventilated basket or mesh bag.
Clean corners and underneath accessible shelving; take out remaining trash and recycling.
Empty boxes go out, bags get closed, opened snacks get eaten first, and nothing gets stored in the walkway.
Lower priority: remove spiderwebs, vacuum tracks, wipe sills and frames. Glass last if energy allows. Only obvious webs over crawling spaces need a quick pass before mopping.
Separate project after the basic clean: sort belongings, allocate storage and organize toys/clothes in manageable sections.
Separate low-priority project. Reorganize books and items, dusting shelves as cleared; finish one section before starting another.
Sawyer gathers toys into their usual bins; Emberly puts books and soft toys in usual places. Mom checks small/broken pieces and cleans dirty or mouthed toys per care directions. Empty trash, gather laundry and clear bedroom floor. Full room organization is separate.
Put Mom's clothes away from laundry-room table. Sawyer and Emberly put away their own clothes. Keep Kyler's clothes in his basket for him to put away later; no extra jobs while he builds the deck.
Clean and thoroughly rinse tub before Charlotte's bath. Clean toilet, wipe sink/counter, empty trash, change towels and spot-clean floor. Skip cabinet organization. Move tub earlier if bath time requires it.
Toss empty boxes and trash; temporarily put usable food in a bin or on the kitchen counter. Keep the walkway open.
After laundry: remove dishes, trash and dirty clothes; clear bedside surfaces and floor, dust and vacuum, then make bed with already-washed new sheets. Keep closet/drawer overhaul out of this task.
One shelf/drawer at a time; keep perishables cold. Discard spoiled food and questionable leftovers, wipe sections, group foods, put open items ahead of duplicates, create an eat-first spot, and keep raw meat contained low. Aim for visible food and usable space, not new organizers.
Clear a counter and make sink usable before fridge work. Sawyer: school items and safely reachable high dishes. Emberly: her belongings, low safe dishes and table. Mom safely gathers tools without adding to Kyler's deck workload. Finish dishes, counters and stove after fridge; spot-clean floor as needed.
First priority: Charlotte crawls here. Sawyer and Emberly collect toys, shoes and school things; Mom handles tools, sharps and small hazards. Quickly remove overhead webs before floors. Use floor-appropriate cleaner; keep Charlotte off wet floors until dry.
